The PlayStation VR2 Is Now Available For Purchase

Sony’s next-gen VR headset has finally arrived – here’s what you need to know.

After long last, the PlayStation VR2 has officially launched alongside a sizable catalog of over 30 launch titles, from popular games like Grand Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village to highly-anticipated original experiences like Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) builds upon its predecessor with features such as headset-based haptic feedback, eye-tracking technology, new-and-improved PS VR2 Sense Controllers, and 3D audio. Sony also promises improved ergonomics to provide a more comfortable in-headset experience, allowing for even longer game sessions.

“Starting today, players across the globe will get a chance to experience PS VR2, escaping into new game worlds with high fidelity visuals and unique sensations,” said Jim Ryan, president & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, in an official release. “Our teams across the company have been working closely alongside some of the industry’s most talented game developers to take this next step in VR gaming — and the quality of work put into these games has been so amazing to see.”

“It’s just the beginning for PS VR2, and there will be plenty more experiences to come this year and beyond,” he added. “Just around the corner, you can look forward to more games yet to launch, including Creed: Rise to Glory – Championship Edition, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners: Chapter 2 Retribution, No Man’s Sky, and more.”

The PlayStation VR2 features two 2000×2040 OLED displays, a refresh rate of 90Hz-120Hz, and an approximate field-of-view (FOV) of 110 degrees. In addition to the six-axis motion sensing system, the headset includes an IR proximity sensor as well as an IR camera for eye tracking. There are also headset-based haptics, a unique addition compared to other VR headsets.

As previously mentioned, the PlayStation VR2 features over 30 games at launch, with even more on the way in the near future. Below is a list of games available now or coming soon to PS VR2 (as provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment).
