Python Coding Workshop: Artificial Intelligence & Bioinformatics Part 2
February 22, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm GMT

Focussed on the field of bioinformatics, this workshop is suitable for learners with a cursory introduction to programming and familiarity with the fundamentals of Python.
What is Bioinformatics?
Bioinformatics is a science field that is similar to but distinct from biological computation, while it is often considered synonymous to computational biology. Biological computation uses bioengineering and biology to build biological computers, whereas bioinformatics uses computation to better understand biology.
How is AI used in Bioinformatics?
Artificial Intelligence has found increasing applications in the field of bioinformatics. Machine Learning is a very powerful tool in bioinformatics which is highly useful in the prediction and pattern detection based on large datasets.
Who is this workshop for?
This coding workshop is aimed at beginner Python coders, but prior coding experience is necessary and recommended.
What will you learn?
– Recap from Part 1: An overview of Bioinformatics
– How AI is used in Bioinformatics
– You’ll apply AI to bioinformatics with a small project during the workshop
– You’ll have ample opportunities to ask questions
Who will lead the workshop?
The workshop is hosted by MKAI and led by Jui Khankari from ainspire.org
Our special guest from industry will be Claire Fletcher-Hobbs, Chief Client Officer at Filament AI who will answer questions about hiring practices.
